10351 East Highway 210 | Alta, UT, 84092
Alta has been referred to as a “skier’s mountain” for many reasons. It is known for its scenery, diverse terrain and for the uncanny quality of snow that it receives season after season. Also, Alta does not allow other types of winter recreation other than skiing. It is a watershed, so no mechanized vehicles are allowed. The ski area has decided to be “just for skiers”, so other snow-sliding equipment is not allowed. It is one of three areas in the United States that does not allow snowboarding.
This trail makes two big loops, circling around Currant Creek Reservoir, which sits slightly above Strawberry Reservoir. It offers great riding with a beautiful backdrop of pine trees and quakies. The trail opens depending on the weather. Typically it opens sometime around the first of June and closes as soon as the snow gets too deep - around the beginning of November. Check with the forest rangers for more information on trail access and weather conditions

Willard Bay is a freshwater reservoir located 12 miles northwest of Ogden on the flood plains of the Great Salt Lake. An earth filled dike and natural shoreline make up the 20-mile enclosures. The dike is officially named the Arthur V. Watkins Dam, for a former U.S. Senator from Utah who was essential in getting the Weber Basin Project passed through congress in 1949. The area had a need for a reservoir to store surplus water from the Ogden and Weber rivers that could later be pumped out and used on farmlands.
